"The Married Life"

"The Married Life" was a movie that I had never heard of till this wknd. The cast consisted of Pierce Bronsan, Chris Cooper, and "Mean Girls" Rachel McAdams to name a few and it really answers the question...Can we be happy at the expense of someone you love? Regardless of it's a best friend, a husband, or a wife. It has crime, drama, and romance all rolled up into one.

The movie takes place in the 1940's when a cheating Harry (Chris Cooper) is head over heels with his mistress Kay (Rachel McAdams). As Harry ponders leaving his wife Pat (Patricia Clarkson),he figures poisoning her is his best bet. As he still has to play his role as the good husband, he asks his best friend Richard (Pierce Bronsan) the single hot looking playboy, who has already met Harry mistress Rachel, to spend time with her so she isn't alone. They spend time together alright. Richard finds himself falling in love with Kay at the expensive of Harry's feelings and friendship, however the feeling is mutual. As Kay searches for a way of ending her affair with Harry to be with Richard and not hurt his feelings at the same time, the betrayal of both Kay and Richard is portrayed. At that moment Harry realized just how much his wife meant to him. After sometime has gone by Harry learned to except what has happened to him and be happy and appreciative. Being happy for both Kay and Richard and appreciating his relationship with his wife.

This movie was one of those "who knew". I'm glad to got a chance to watch it. Although it was suggested my a married man, it's good movie regardless of your relationship status.

"Memiors of a Geisha"

"Memoirs of a Geisha" was one of those movies I wanted to see in the theaters but didn't get a chance to. It was excellent!!!! I hear the book is much better though. Goes into a lot more detail as usual. The movie illustrated jealousy, bitterness, and maliciousness we as women can sometimes have towards each other. The costumes that the Geisha women wore where so beautiful and authentic. It really explained the culture and the history of a Geisha....how they come to be, what they are, and ultimately what they stand for. Something I didn't know. One thing is certain, the Geisha women got the "other woman" concept down to a form of art where they are taken care of. Every movement of a Geisha woman had a purpose. From fulfilling all of man's desires, to never asking questions or having expectations from men, being mysterious, and showing beauty in every way, men are treated like kings.

The story begins with a 9 year old who had been torn from her family and all she knew and sold into prostitution. After being forced to acclimate herself to her situation, she finds herself growing up faster than the average 9 yr old. She is forced to leave the family and life she knew behind her, faces jealousy, competition, work, love, and sees life for what it is. Tough! With her beauty, style, grace, training, education, and eagerness to pay off what she was sold for and to find love (something that is not for the Geisha woman), she ends up being the greatest Geisha ever and the desire of every man. And after all she had been through she never lost herself.

I really enjoyed the end. It had me wanting more. I'll have to read the book. A def must see!

"The Taking of Pelham 123"

"The Taking of Pelham 123", wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. There wasn't as many shoot outs as I would have liked, like the Die Hard Movies or Passenger 57. They could have made it more suspencful and it would have been nice to see Denzel tell his boss of in the movie. They made his character much to modest. Denzel was good in the movie but I dont like the way they potrayed his character based on what we are used to seeing from him. John Travolta was good. He played the bad guy similar to what he played in "Face Off". I actually like him better as the bad guy in "Face Off" rather than "The Taking of Pelham 123". If they added more shoot out scenes, made John a little more of a bad guy, and Denzel less of one, it would have been a much better movie.

As Denzel begins work as any other normal day, he finds himself being at the wrong place at the wrong time. He is forced to be the negiotiater for the police as he holds the lives of New York Citizens in his hands. With time against them, authorites and the mayor rush for a ransom, Denzel stalls for time as they try and get answers and solutions to the taking of Pelham 123 and it's passengers. Denzel is forced to get closer and closer involved as he risks his own life for the lives of others. As the day closes and the clock is ticketing as John threantens to kill off each passenger if he doesn't get his money,a deeper story unfolds, and Denzel is once again is forced to deal with the situation head on.

Not one I would buy, but might watch it on HBO.

"The Proposal"

"The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock was entertaining. I got to see Sandra act like a "bitch" which we don't get to see too often, and she was good at it. Ryan Reynolds (hot as hell) who played her assistant in the movie was funny as usual. I think he is hilarious and did I mention a hottie?!
Sandra Bullock who plays a bitter and cold hearted editor to her entire staff, finds herself actually needing the people (especially Ryan Reynolds) that she treats like crap, for the first time. Or else she is going to be deported back to Canada for a year. Ryan Reynolds feeling threatened about loosing his job as her assistant and decides to help Sandra out. But not without making some deals of his own with her and using the fact that Sandra needs him to his own advantage. During the process Sandra finds out that Ryan has a great family and almost everything she herself would want. Ryan finds out that Sandra, as it turns out, might be human after all. She does have feelings and a soul, but has done a very good job of hiding and protecting herself due to misfortunes in her life.
It was a great comedy and romance movie rolled up into one. Love it!
